The fee to enter Chili is:

Parrot Head: 

$20.00 per entry

(includes 1-wristband for event entry)

Non-Parrot Head: 

$40.00 per entry

(includes 1-year membership to ECPHC and 1-wristband for event entry)

If you want to enter your chili, complete the form at the bottom of this page and send along with your payment to the address on the form.

You will be required to send a check for the required amount and, if you are not a Parrot Head, you will be required to complete a club application and submit with payment.  You can also drop this information off the CopySystems in the Destin Wal-Mart.  Confirmation of your entry in the Cook-Off will be emailed to you once Island Diane receives your request.

Entries are limited to the first 40, so get your entry in fast!

Following are the Rules and Form to complete and return with payment for Chili Entry.

NOTE THAT THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF CHILI HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM 5 GALLONS TO 3 GALLONS!

Judging Criteria

Chili will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. AROMA- Chili should smell appetizing. A good aroma is a tip off to good taste.

  2. CONSISTENCY - Chili should be a smooth combination of meat and gravy. No big chucks of onion, peppers, etc., Chili should not be dry, watery, grainy, lumpy, or greasy, but just good and smooth.

  3. COLOR - Chili should look good (appearance).

  4. TASTE - Chili should taste good above all else.

  5. AFTERTASTE - Chili should have a pleasant taste after swallowing. aftertaste should not be bitter or metallic.

  6. People’s Choice Awards

    Chili Tasters will be provided with one voting ticket with each paid admission designated for People’s Choice. This is to be used to cast a vote for the chili liked the best. The Chili that receives the most votes will be declared winner of the People’s Choice.  In the event of a tie, we will revert to the judged chili scores. Of the tied entries, the one that had the highest score in the judged event will be the winner of the tie.
